Resource Development Manager

The Assaulted Women’s Helpline is a dynamic community based organization providing 24-hour, 7-day-a-week telephone crisis counselling and referral service for women in the province of Ontario experiencing abuse. AWHL works from an integrated feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppression framework.

We have an exceptional opportunity for a passionate and motivated Manager of Resource Development. This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises our Resource Development staff, and volunteer team and work closely with the board committee. You will lead the fundraising and awareness strategic initiatives for the Helpline and be a member of AWHL’s management team.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop an annual strategic fundraising plan and implement a range of programs including:
    • Signature special events
    • Corporate partnerships and sponsorships
    • Individual and foundation giving
    • Third party events
    • Major Gifts
    • In kind gifts
    • New funding, awareness and partnership opportunities
  • Lead the marketing and communications initiatives to raise the profile of the Assaulted Women’s Helpline across the province.
  • Manage staff team including Resource Development Coordinator, interns and summer students.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and motivate a large and diverse team of project volunteers.
  • Coordinate, inspire and support the Resource Development Board Committee.
  • Recognize and celebrate volunteers, partners and donors.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Post secondary education in business, communications or non-profit management
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive management, marketing or fundraising experience
  • Non-profit or charitable organization experience professionally or as a volunteer
  • Passion for the work of AWHL and a motivation to make a difference with the issue of violence against women
  • Exceptional supervisory and project management skills
  • Ability to act as a team leader and to work collaboratively with senior volunteers and staff
  • Excellent inter-personal, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Experience with grant/proposal writing
  • Strong marketing and sales skills
  • Strategic, creative and resourceful
  • Board/committee experience
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with donors and partners
  • Positive attitude, diplomatic, energetic and interest to work in a diverse team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and/or weekends
