AWHL and Bell Mobility are Proud to Launch #SAFE

In May of this year, The Assaulted Women's Helpline and Bell Mobility will be announcing the launch of #SAFE. This initiative continues to make AWHL increasingly accessible to women across Ontario.

Bell Mobility has over 4 million subscribers nationally, and any one of those 4 million subscribers dialing #SAFE from within the province of Ontario will be linked at no charge to AWHL 's 24 hour crisis line.

Now, in addition to our toll free line and TTY line, we are grateful that there is another way that women can contact AWHL to receive crisis counselling, information, referrals and safety planning in up to 154 languages, assured of their confidentiality and anonymity.

As part of Bell Mobility's "Reduce, Reuse and Redial" program, Bell is donating hundreds of phones to women's shelters. In addition, they are providing refurbished phones and a subsidized rate plan for women transitioning to life outside of a shelter. These women will now also be able to access AWHL by dialing #SAFE on their Bell Mobility phone.

Concurrently, Bell Mobility is launching #AIDE for the province of Quebec which will similarly link calls directly to SOS Violence Congugale.

We are pleased to be able to work with a corporate partner like Bell Mobility to make our services more accessible and work collectively to end violence against women.
