events & announcements / job postings / media room Events & Announcements December 6, 2007 - Commemorating 16 Days of Action to End Violence Against Women and National Remembrance on Violence Against Women To commemorate the 16 days of Action to End Violence Against Women from November 25 and December 10th, the Assaulted Women's Helpline launched its first campaign called 16 Days of Empowerment. Participants set up a personal goal and encouraged their friends and family to pledge a donation in support of their campaign. Participants did a variety of things, such as kicking personal bad habits, stopping to eat chocolate and other junk foods - the possibilities were endless. Together, we raised thousands of dollars to help make sure no call goes unanswered. We want to recognize Erin G, for being our magnificent superstar who single handily raised more than $2200!! Coinciding to the 16 days of Empowerment, we also commemorated Dec. 6th, National Remembrance on Violence Against Women with our Dec. 6th Campaign in the City. More than 25 of the GTA's best salons, boutiques and bookstores helped us raised awareness and funds for our critical services. Each shop set up donation boxes, posters, bookmarks, and some even held their own events to show their support. We want to recognize each one of the shops for their fabulous support and hope that you will join us again in the New Year. We want to especially thank Regina at Propaganda who held a small event at her shop and had an overwhelming response from the community. Together, we made a difference in the lives of the many women who access our services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and in up to 154 languages. Thank you to all our supporters - Boutiques:
