Answering your Frequently Asked Questions ...

  1. How much money do I have to raise?
  2. It depends on which event you registered for.

If you are doing the 5K you have committed to raise a minimum of $50. The Half Marathon has a minimum of $100 and $150 for the full Marathon participants.

If you are unable to raise your minimum then you will be asked to send that amount (or the difference) to AWHL to cover your registration costs.

If you haven't started your pledge raising, those amounts might seem daunting but last year the average amount raised per team member was $258 dollars and many of our members raised more than $500 each. Once you get going, you'll be surprised at how quickly it adds up, especially with the easy to use online pledging. AND it can be a lot of fun too.

  3. What are the prizes for the top pledge raisers?
  4. Stay tuned for all the info ...

  5. I am having trouble with the online pledge system. How can people sponsor me?
  6. There are a few ways to do this.

    1. You can log on at http://www.icanpledge.com to your own personalized account with the password and username they sent you at registration. Here you can follow their instructions to send emails to all of your contacts.
    2. You can log in as above but just send an email to yourself. Then you can forward that link to everyone in your address book from your own email account.
    3. You can simply send people to http://www.icanpledge.com where they can type in your first name in the "Search for a Participant" box and then they'll quickly be redirected to your page to leave a pledge.
    4. Your donors online will immediately receive a tax receipt emailed to them. If you have any further trouble please let us know and we are happy to assist.

  7. What do I do with my offline (cash) pledges?
  8. You can print out your offline pledge form here: http://www.torontowaterfrontmarathon.com/en/pdf/stwmpledgeform.pdf.

Cheques should be made payable to "Assaulted Women's Helpline" - cash is also welcome of course. Tax receipts will be mailed after the event for all donations over $20 (with complete address and contact information for the donor).

You can bring your offline pledges to the runner's Expo at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre when you pick up your compulsory race kit on September 26th and 27th.

To have your offline pledges count towards your total for the pledge raising competitions then please email AWHL the list of your sponsor's name and pledge amount on a regular basis. All Offline pledges need to be reported to sdiaz@awhl.org by email by September 21st.

  9. I can no longer participate in the event. How can I withdraw?
  10. Unfortunately, STWM does not allow refunds for withdrawals. AWHL will be charged for all runners who don't participate especially if they don't pledge raise.

However, you can find someone to participate on your behalf and send their name to us no later than September 14th.

  11. Why do I have to go to the Runner's Expo to pick up my Runner's Packet?
  12. STWM will have no packet pick up on race day. You need your timing chip and bib number to participate on race day or you will not be allowed at the starting gate. You'll get your STWM t-shirt and a bag of goodies at the same time.

ALSO, AWHL will have a booth at the runner's expo where we'll have your special team t-shirts, presents and be able to collect your offline pledges.

The Runner's Expo will be at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, North Building, 255 Front Street W on Friday, Sept 26 (11am - 8pm) or Saturday, Sept 27 (10am - 6pm).

  13. What time do I have to arrive at Race Day?
  14. The marathon and half marathon start at 7am and the 5k starts at 7:45am on Sunday, September 28th.

It is recommended that you arrive an hour before your start time.

You can learn more here: http://www.torontowaterfrontmarathon.com/

  15. Do I have to wear the t-shirt I am given?
  16. You'll get both an STWM and a "Team Assaulted Women's Helpline" t-shirt to thank you for your participation in the event (and to help us spread awareness).

Full and Half Marathoners usually wear their own running clothes and change into the AWHL shirt after or save it. Last year all of our 5K participants wore the AWHL shirt and we looked like a big, united, enthusiastic team! We promise it is a cool shirt that you'll be proud to wear.

You'll get your shirt at the AWHL booth at the Runner's Expo.
